[He does feel like shit about it. Hell, thanks the to place he was before, he even understands what it feels like to kill someone you care about. But he's conditioned himself to only express feelings privately when he has them at all, and it's a difficult pattern to break.]

[Which does remarkably little to make him feel better, but he understands this intellectually. He's aware enough of the potential dangers the demon posed -- he'd been physically attacked by the one in Mello's body and is in the process of recovering from the injury.]

[He's doubtful of being contacted upon Mello's revival. Mello has a tendency to go radio silent when he's dealing with heavy emotions. Near can only assume that he'll be full of those when the time comes.]
